“Flight of the Conchords” follows the goofy tale of two real guys who are shepherds in New Zealand, who decide they want to take their music on the road, so they head out to the Big Apple. The quirky TV series from the land of the Kiwis features the real-life singers playing fictional versions of themselves (and hopefully exaggerated), but it does translate to American audiences. Ugh! I can’t think of anything more painful than watching nine hours of a documentary about Alzheimer’s disease, but believe it or not, the new DVD called “The Alzheimer’s Project” an amazing, informative, and entertaining must-see documentary. Boy, they don’t make date movies like this anymore. Back in 1987, couples went to go see Michael Douglas have a quickie affair with Glenn Close and watch her turn into a stalker that boiled a pet bunny (and more). Then, a few years later, in 1993, if you were still together, you could go catch a movie by the same director where Demi Moore and her hubby played by Woody Harrelson are offered a million dollars to sleep with her (by Robert Redford no less). Tommy Jarvis is still being haunted by the hockey mask killer Jason Vorhees in “Friday the 13th, Part VI: Jason Lives,” yet another installment in the long-running movie horror franchise. This time, the older Tommy is played by Thom Mathews, not cute Corey Feldman as he was two movies ago. The second Tommy, John Shepherd (who was in “Part V”), became a Fundamentalist Christian in the interim and decided not to reprise his role in the violent series. Read More »
